She and He Trendy Tuesdays: Fairytale flower girls and blissful ring bearers

Posted August 03, 2010 in Uncategorized. See View Comments.

She and He introduce a weekly cutting edge style combo for him and her.

Instead of a plain white dress for your little darling divas, have them wear something dreamy and fairytale like. Your flower girls will love this idea.

She Says: “What girl doesn’t like to dress up like a princess, ballerina or fairy?”

Having the little ladies wear tutus that match your color scheme is a great start. Wings and wands are also a nice touch, especially for whimsical weddings. We love wands with flowers and ribbon.

Boys will be boys. This being said, make sure you have your handsome ring bearer try on the miniature suit or tux before the wedding day. This will allow you enough time to fix anything that is itchy or too big or small. You wouldn’t want the poor little guy tugging at his crotch or collar area during the big day. As long as he is wearing comfy clothes that aren’t too itchy or hot, he will be the hit of the entire party. (Besides the bride and groom of course!)

Posted August 02, 2010 in Uncategorized. See View Comments.

Let’s be serious. Nobody hearts Mondays. So every Monday we are here to lighten the mood and talk about things we do heart: La Tavola Linens at your Wedding Reception

Imagine having a wedding reception where everything looks absolutely perfect. Everything looks just the way you had pictured it- just better! This is totally possible with the perfect décor elements. Even common details such as linens make a HUGE difference. This is why we want to bring the gorgeous La Tavola Linens to your attention.

You can order a variety of different types to reflect the vision that you have for your special day. Whether you want a romantic, outdoor, beach, feminine, classic or colorful theme, they have it all.

She Says: “It would be an insult to call these linen décor pieces table cloths!”

La Tavola originated in California but lucky for all of us trendy Canadians, they now ship worldwide.  Back in December of 2008 we were the first ones to ship the linens into Canada.

He Says: “We had a few little complications at customs. That definitely didn’t stop us from getting these babies over the border.”

Luckily that’s history now because La Tavola Linens are extremely accessible almost anywhere now. They have made a huge splash in the wedding industry in the US and in Canada. Anyone planning a destination wedding can also have them shipped out to their desired location!

Below is a photo taken of one of our winter weddings with La Tavola Linens. This choice was a perfect fit for a winter romance theme.

She and He What’s up in Hollywood Wednesdays:Carrie Underwood Wedding Details

Posted July 14, 2010 in Uncategorized. See View Comments.

JessiFirefly posts your weekly dose of pop culture.

According to Radar Online, Carrie Underwood got married in Greensboro, Georgia on Saturday July 10th. She was engaged since December and received a 12-carat diamond ring worth $800, 000! The country princess, and hockey star worked hard to be successful and to afford the $500, 000+ wedding. –They deserve nothing less! Not only did the couple have a dream wedding, but their guests were treated to luxury as well.  Guests each had one of the 251 rooms booked at the Ritz-Carlton. The total cost was about $268, 000 for just one night. Anyone staying in the hotel who was NOT was asked to leave the premises as of noon the day before the wedding.

The couple spent their night after being married in the Presidential House costing $4,000 per night. The room has views of the lake and the golf course.  A tent was setup on the hotel grounds beside the lake where Carrie walked down the aisle.  Carrie flew in by a helicopter on Friday. The luxury hotel did a great job protecting the privacy of the guests and the celebrity couple. Everything was closed off from the public eye.

Underwood wore a Chantilly lace gown which was custom made by Monique Lhuillier. The bridal party was also outfitted by the designer. Photos of the wedding are finally realeased today in PEOPLE magazine. I will definitely be checking those out! (Apparently her little dog wore a pink little doggy tux by Swarovski!)

She and He Trendy Tuesdays: She and He have headed to the Calgary Stampede- and gone Country!

Posted July 13, 2010 in Uncategorized. See View Comments.

She and He introduce a weekly cutting edge style combo for him and her.

She Says: A great way to compliment a wedding in the Rockies is to do a preliminary engagement photo shoot out West. If you’re wondering how to pull off the country-gal look there are many different ways to do so. This look is quite popular here in Calgary, AB this season as the Stampede has kicked off last Thursday.

To get the look, try wearing a long sleeved plaid or button down shirt. If you’re not a plaid shirt kinda-girl, wear an oversized blouse with a big brown belt and dirty washed jeans. Cowboy boots in dark brown always look hot. If you’re brave enough to wear a cowboy hat, my best advice is to keep you hair down with loose waves or curls!

He says: When it comes to cowboy boots there are so many different styles and colors out there. It’s really a preference thing. Do NOT tuck your jeans into them. Girls can pull it off…. guys, not so much. Regardless of how you wear them or what the style is, if you take good care of them, they will last forever. The vintage long-sleeved cowboy shirt is making a big appearance this year. A black one with white print always looks good.

She and He Heart Mondays: Country Weddings in the Canadian Rockies

Posted July 12, 2010 in Uncategorized. See View Comments.

Let’s be serious. Nobody hearts Mondays. So every Monday we are here to lighten the mood and talk about things we do heart: Country Weddings in the Canadian Rockies.

The bottom and top two photos were taken by Melissa McKinnon for two of our previous wedding clients. http://www.melissamckinnon.com/

She says: I heart Rocky Mountain Weddings out West. Having a wedding in the Canadian Rockies is a great opportunity for couples to treat their guests to an entire weekend of fun outdoor adventures. Ice skating, riding in horse drawn carriages, skiing, and sipping cocoa by the fire are just a few of my fav’s!

He says: It’s awesome to get married in a place where the honeymoon starts as soon as you arrive.  People travel from all around the world to get married in the Rockies. Lucky for us, it’s practically our backyard. Banff, Lake Louise and Canmore all have great accommodations for your guests and of course- honeymoon suites with a killer view. Another good reason to get married in the Rockies is that without even having to touch Photoshop, your photos will have a brilliant country or mountain background.

She and He Friday’s: A Wedding Planners Wedding

Posted July 09, 2010 in Uncategorized. See View Comments.

Hi All,

My name’s Kendra Scott, I’m the Wedding’s Division Manager at Firefly Occasions and as of December 19th, I now have my own wedding to plan! Our social P.R./Social Media Coordinator JessiFirefly asked me to write a feature for the blog where I document my personal wedding planning journey each step of the way. Every second Friday I will keep you posted on what I’ve come up with!

When you plan and assist in as many weddings as I do, you’re bound to change your mind a few times right? :) I have about five different versions of inspiration boards, vision boards and professional renderings along with décor instructions (in a word document with photos) for each design idea I have come up with. This has been the biggest challenge so far. I change my mind weekly.

So my décor is undecided but here’s what I do know. I want a small wedding (hopefully 60 but no more then 90 guests.) I want a whole weekend of events, I want the wedding to feel really intimate and I want to personalize and hand pick everything. I love little details such as custom serviettes, custom stir sticks, welcome gift bags in hotel rooms, custom signs, signature drinks etc. My wedding will be in the winter but in no way a “winter wonderland” wedding. We have a great venue in the mountains but close to the town of Banff. I’d like a violin/viola or classical guitar/violin duo to play during the ceremony. We’d like to do outdoor ice skating the night before the wedding, rent out the hot springs the night after the wedding and plan a group ski trip.

Here’s the vision as of today :) I’ll keep you posted as my mind changes and maybe you all can help me decide on a final design?

What’s up in Hollywood Wednesdays: Former Miss California USA gets Married

Posted July 07, 2010 in Uncategorized. See View Comments.

JessiFirefly posts your weekly dose of pop culture

Carrie Prejean was the former Miss California USA in 2009. Unfortunately she got stripped of her crown for alleged breaches of contract regarding one of her final questions asked by Perez Hilton. According to E! Online, Prejean was married to Oakland Raiders quarterback Kyle Boller in her hometown of San Diego.
A classic high school beauty queen and football quarterback love story. Adorable! Carrie 23, and Kyle 29, met last July and have been engaged since February.

The couple got married at the Capella Church inside the Grand Del Mar hotel. The beautiful Mrs. Carrie Prejean wore a one-shoulder mermaid style gown while the groom sported a classic black tux. As for transportation, the couple left in style in a Rolls Royce. Firefly Occasions congratulates the newlyweds and wishes them an amazing honeymoon!

She and He Trendy Tuesdays: Fancy Feet

Posted July 06, 2010 in Uncategorized. See View Comments.

She and He introduce a weekly cutting edge style combo for him and her.

Who said you couldn’t wear your favorite pair of colorful pumps to your wedding?

She says: “If you have a pair of blue pumps it’s a great photo op and it can count as your something blue.” Wearing different shoes for even just some of your wedding photos is a great way to showcase your personality and personal flare. On a rainy wedding day, take a few photos wearing some red rubber boots! If you’re a country girl, snap a few shots wearing your cowboy boots and dress. For all you city girls, get a few photos wearing your white wedding dress and bright blue Manolos.

He Says: Guys can wear colored socks to add some personality. If striped socks similar to the photo below make you cringe, try wearing solid colored socks that match the bride’s shoes. It makes for an awesome photo and it’s sure to humors the guests!

She and He Heart Mondays: Colorful Cocktails for Summer Weddings

Posted July 05, 2010 in Uncategorized. See View Comments.

Let’s be serious. Nobody hearts Mondays. So every Monday we are here to lighten the mood and talk about things we do heart: Colorful Cocktails for Summer Weddings

Summer wedding cocktails are great because you can tailor them to your own wedding. We recently had a wedding where the couple had a signature “Bees Knees Cocktail” at their bumblebee, summer cottage wedding by the lake. They custom made their signature, wooden stir sticks and coasters which guests later kept as a wedding momentum. Fruit, candy, colored straws, flowers and umbrellas really dress up the drink! Outdoor wedding photos of guests mingling outside also look great because everyone has a colorful cocktail in hand. Don’t be afraid to serve drinks out of unique glasses such as mason or jam jars. It makes for a summery, refreshing feel.

What’s Up in Hollywood Wednesdays: Surprise! Megan Fox got married in Hawaii!

Posted June 30, 2010 in Uncategorized. See View Comments.

Your weekly dose of pop culture is posted by JessiFirefly

It’s wedding season and many celebrity couples are getting married and engaged. That being said, it’s always hard to focus on a specific couple every week. This week however I couldn’t resist but to talk about Transformers II star, Megan Fox, who rocked the big screen last year!

Fox was engaged to Brian Austin Green in 2006 and called off the engagement in 2009. The 24-year-old told PEOPLE that it was a mutual decision. She was soon engaged again and is NOW reportedly married to Green as of June 22nd, according to PEOPLE.

The couple spent some time in Hawaii last week and reports state that they got married at the Four Seasons Hotel. As of yet, no official wedding photos have been released. But let me tell you, they are sought after! That’s ok… I’m sure the photos would break the hearts of teenage boys nationwide.

After hearing about the marriage in Hawaii, I wondered, where did Green and Fox meet? Green tells MTV that they met on the set of Hope & Faith. Soon afterwards, they lived together for three years. Eventually they both had very demanding and busy careers that put a strain on their relationship, forcing them to separate. According to PEOPLE, the couple is now happily married. Here’s hope for all of you couples out there that split hoping to re-unite! -There are happy endings!

She and He Trendy Tuesdays: Color Your World

Posted June 29, 2010 in Uncategorized. See View Comments.

She and He introduce a weekly cutting edge style combo for him and her.

She says: “Any bridesmaid looks good in plum purple! After all, you can just shorten the dress and wear it again.” –Just kidding. This is definitely NOT the case. Not all bridesmaids look good in one color, nor do bridesmaids have the same shape or personal taste. So why not let them chose from a variety of bridesmaids dresses and colors? This is a great way to add color into your wedding if you’re a bride wearing a classical cream or white wedding dress. There is definitely some room for creativity here. Not only will a colorful bridal party accentuate your white dress -it will suit your bridesmaid’s unique personalities.

He says: Having a different color tie will really make the black suit jacket pop. It’s original, it’s fun and it’s a cool way to let your groomsmen have some options on what they want to wear.

She and He Heart Mondays: Summer Wedding Cakes with… Greenery?

Posted June 28, 2010 in Uncategorized. See View Comments.

Let’s be serious. Nobody hearts Mondays. So every Monday we are here to lighten the mood and talk about things we do heart: Wedding Cakes with Greenery

Skinny jeans, big sunglasses, big hair, leggings, leather jackets and wedding cakes. What do all of these things have in common? They are all classics we love that have come back into style! For a while, couples were opting for unique wedding desserts such as cupcakes. However lately the wedding cake has re-emerged.

Two things we love here in North America are makeovers and comebacks. And the wedding cakes that we posted have definitely done just that! They are not your average plain white and simple wedding cakes. These fabulous summer wedding cakes have greenery! Real flowers or greenery on cakes get people talking because it’s not cookie cutter. You can specifically buy edible flowers for your wedding cake. Check out this website for a complete list:

We had edible flowers in fruit punch at our Summer Solstice Wedding last week and it was a huge hit!
