Back in ‘93 it wasn’t hard to find Mariah Carey’s first marriage all over glossy magazines stacked high and low at the supermarket. I wasn’t very old then but how can a little girl forget a celebrity bride wearing a puffy-shouldered wedding dress, resembling a cream puff, plastered all over magazines? And who could forget hottie, Nick Lachey, from 98*C and singer Jessica Simpson’s wedding photos featured in every teeny bopper magazine in 2002?! (This is one of those couples that I think everyone wishes stayed together.) One of the most memorable wedding features that I can remember is Pam Anderson’s. She flaunted a hot little LA style wedding dress on the cover of OK Magazine. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Victoria and David Beckham, and most recently Carrie Underwood and Hilary Duff who both married NHL stars… the list of publicized celebrity weddings goes on and on. Celebrity wedding photos are so sought after because everyone wants to see who made the dress, who made the cake, who attended with whom, and for us here at Firefly, we love to see what the décor looked like.
So my question is, is it tacky or tasteful when celebs sell their wedding photos to magazines such as OK, PEOPLE and US Weekly? Weddings are sacred and very private and many people strive to keep it that way. Can you really put a price on family milestones such as the birth of a child or a wedding? What if the couple donated the money received to a charity. Would this change your mind or does it make it even tackier?
On the other hand, who can resist two million dollars for selling exclusive rights to wedding photos!? (AHEM not Eva Longoria and Tony Parker.) Also what celebrity could resist all the attention? A-list celeb couples are almost guaranteed to land a cover spot on a magazine with professional wedding photos. Personally, I would jump on this free publicity faster than Spencer Pratt.
Truth be told, if I were a celebrity and finally married Canadian actor, Ryan Reynolds, you would definitely see me on the cover of PEOPLE wearing a custom-made Vera Wang holding a pink bouquet on the beaches of Tahiti.

Pop princess Hilary Duff and Edmonton Oilers hockey player Mike Comrie tied the knot at the San Ysidro Ranch near Santa Barbara last weekend. The wedding was fairly small and intimate for a celebrity wedding with only 100 guests. Comrie, 29, and Duff, 22, were wed at 8 p.m. under an arch of flowers.
Many celeb weddings get blown out of proportion or end up on the cover of magazines. There will be reports on who made the dress, who wore what, who attended and who was seen talking to who. This was not one of those weddings as it remained very private. The couple wanted it to be an intimate ceremony.
The reception was held at a private estate located just minutes from the San Ysidro Ranch. According to Radar Online, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony chose the same venue to spend their wedding night in 2004. The rates are roughly about $4000 per night, depending on the time of year. After the wedding, the couple held a brunch on Sunday at the Ranch for all of the out-of-town guests. According to an eyewitness from PEOPLE magazine, Mike held his arm around Hilary for most of the romantic, candlelit ceremony, and they both looked extremely happy.
Duff and Comrie had been dating for almost three years before the wedding. Of all places celebrities are spotted, the lovebirds met on a plane flying to Idaho. Ironically they were both staying at the same resort and they ended up spending an entire weekend together. Comrie proposed to his princess in February while the two were vacationing in Hawaii. This was a complete surprise to Duff as well as her entire family.
Reflecting back on the Lizzie McGuire days, Duff has really grown up and finally experienced her own, real life, Cinderella Story! Since Comrie is from Edmonton, all of you fellow Albertan readers can keep your eyes peeled for the new Mr. and Mrs.!

After Chelsea Clinton and Alicia Keys’ weddings we couldn’t help but notice the increasing trend of wearing Grecian-inspired wedding dresses. Clinton wore a Vera Wang, Grecian-inspired gown with a black ribbon belt and a criss-cross back for the wedding reception. (This brings up another trend! -Having two wedding dresses for your wedding day.) Clinton’s wedding attire represented classic American royalty and beauty.
On the same weekend Alicia Keys married record producer Swizz Beatz. The two of them had a Mediterranean themed wedding. The sultry singer also wore a Vera Wang grecian-inspired dress but represented a completely different style than Clinton. She rocked the gown and looked like a true and elegant Greek Goddess. She had jeweled details on her back shoulder with crystal-encrusted flat sandals, matched with a sophisticated headband.
It seems as if Vera Wang might be the catalyst for the Grecian-inspired

Chelsea Clinton, 30, and her fiancé Marc Mezvinsky, 32, were married this Saturday of the August long weekend. The ceremony took place at Astor Courts in the small town of Rhinebeck, New York.
The former First Daughter Chelsea wore a Vera Wang dress and later changed into another Grecian dress for the wedding reception according to PEOPLE. Chelsea and Marc rocked the dance floor and surprised the 400 guests. It was obvious that they took lessons.
Some of the celebrities who attended the wedding included, former President Bill Clinton, current Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Vernon Jordan, Terry Auliffe, Madeleine Albright, Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Steve Bing and Vera Wang. It was rumored that Oprah and Tom Hanks were also invited yet they were nowhere to be seen.
According to Radar Online, Chelsea and Marc were together for five years and were childhood pals. Their wedding planner was Bryan Rafanelli of Boston.
After the wedding the newlyweds jetted off to their honeymoon at an undisclosed location. Rumor has it that guests stayed to party at the wedding until 3 a.m.! Who knew these prestigious politicians knew how to party? Famous or not, It sounds like the wedding was an absolute success shared with friends and family.
“Despite the fact that we have had interesting careers, we still consider the most important job we ever had being the parents of Chelsea.” – Bill Clinton.

Pirates of the Caribbean star, Orlando Bloom, 33, and his new wife, Miranda Kerr, 27, are back from the honeymoon in the tropics. The couple vacationed in the Caribbean for four days after the wedding. They stayed at the Viceroy hotel on the luxury island of Anguilla.
According to Radar Online, the wedding was a complete surprise to fans. News about the wedding was leaked after Kerr stated that she was not going to appear at the Australian department store David Jones.
She said: “David Jones very graciously released me during this period so we could celebrate an intimate ceremony and honeymoon together.”
Looking back at their history, the couple wed after only being engaged for a month however they have been dating since late 2007 according to PEOPLE magazine. The couple made their first public appearance back in April of 2008. Last year during Thanksgiving they spent time in Morocco vacationing.
Even celebrities want their own personal space sometimes. The couple deserves their privacy and it’s no shocker that they requested their wedding details be kept a secret. As of yet, not many wedding details have been released. -We wish them the best!

Last Saturday Khadijah Haqq and Bobby McCray (former New Orleans Saints football star) tied the knot in Los Angeles. According to Radar Online, Khloe Kardashian is the bride’s best friend and was a bridesmaid in the wedding. Khloe and her husband Lamar Odom seemed to be having a wonderful time together at the reception.
Khloe also brought her entire family who showed up in style! (As always)
Kim wore a tan and fitted dress with silver studded heels. It’s a small world… Kim’s ex-boyfriend Reggie Bush was one of the groomsmen at the wedding. Awkward. Regardless, Kim kept her cool and glowed with confidence as the ex-couple kept their distances.
As for Kourtney, her and her boyfriend rolled up in a brand new Lamborghini.
Their mother Kris and step-dad Bruce Jenner also attended the celeb wedding.
As for the bride and groom? Well, they were stylish as well. Khadijah wore a white layered dress with a sweetheart fitted top and Bobby wore a gorgeous tan tux!
Lesson to be learned for all you future brides out there: Be prepared to have your thunder stolen when inviting A-List celebs like Kim Kardashian to your wedding.

“California girls, we’re unforgettable, daisy dukes, bikinis on top. Sun-kissed skin, so hot we’ll melt your popsicle…” – Nobody said it better than Katy Perry. She sent out her save the dates which are more like “save the weeks”. Russell Brand and his lovely fiancé got engaged in India. A week long wedding ceremony in India would be truly unique and amazing. It’s a tradition in India to extend the wedding celebrations for an entire week. The cards that the couple sent out were in the shape of a henna tattooed hand with an engagement ring on it. I can imagine the celebs have a very exciting week planned for their lucky guests attending the ceremony. If you want your wedding to be spectacular and far from cookie cutter, similar to the celebrity couple, planning a Royal Indian theme wedding is a fabulous idea. Imagine rich colors, elaborate jewelry, delicious Indian food, vibrant colored flowers and intricate patterns on detailed wedding attire. Perhaps Katy will wear a traditional Sari for her rehearsal dinner or even the wedding?
Indian weddings are very sacred and traditional and include many special rituals which last a week long. My favorite ritual is one that takes place in many communities of the Hindu Religion. The sisters-in-law hide the shoes of their jija (brother-in-law) and returns them only in exchange for money. Indian wedding or not, I would sure love to part-take in this fun filled ritual! If you’re interested in more information on how to have a traditional Indian wedding visit http://weddings.iloveindia.com.
Forget about Trista and Ryan…the latest “Bachelor” couple to hit the alter are Jason and Molly. And they got wet!!! While Trista and Ryan were in attendance to watch the couple walk down the aisle, so was Jillian Harris…one of the girls from Jason’s show. Sure that may be a little weird to us, but I guess all is fair in love and ratings.
Harris attended the ceremony with her fiance Ed Swiderski, whom she chose when she starred on ‘The Bachelorette’ last year. “We’re really excited for them,” she said of Jason & Molly. “They are very ‘normal’ in one sense, but on the other hand both of us have been through things in terms of the tabloids and drama after our shows were over.”
Jason shocked viewers at the end of his ‘Bachelor’ run — he initially selected Melissa Rycroft, as the winner. Mesnick proposed to Rycroft on national television during the season finale, but in a wrap-up episode, Mesnick rescinded the proposal and instead chose the runner-up, Malaney. Guess he couldn’t make up his mind, something he has hopefully gotten over before the wedding.
Seriously, all I remember from that season is that this Jason dude CRIED…A LOT, he had some of the best crying scenes I have ever witnessed (I will never forget a sobbing Jason, clutching the railing while the helicopter got a great shot from the air) on TV and my wife also makes me watch Grey’s Anatomy so I have seen quite a few. Chris “the host guy” even coined the phrase “pulling a Mesnick” which means to really cry on the show. He used it to poke fun at Jake last night on the Final Rose show. Yes I watched it, my wife is pregnant and she is addicted so I sucked it up and off we went.
Anyway, back to the details…A bunch of folks from past seasons were there, Jerry O’Connell’s brother, but not Jerry or Rebecca as far as I can tell and a bunch of people from the show…wonder if they invited the producer from Jake’s season…probably not. About 300 guests witnessed Mesnick, 33, and Malaney, 25, exchange vows in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. The ceremony will be televised for the ABC special ‘The Bachelor: Jason and Molly’s Wedding’. Malaney, wearing a $45,000 strapless Monique Lhuillier gown, walked down the aisle to “Over the Rainbow,” sung by ‘American Idol’ star Jason Castro.
Jason proposed this past October, while the couple was on vacation in New Zealand. After a tropical honeymoon, the pair will return to the Seattle home they’ve shared since September.
Hopefully on the Honeymoon he won’t rescind the marriage and hook up with another girl, I kid…seriously, we wish them all the best and hope they have a great life together.

Leanne with her stunning wedding gown! Contestants of Project Runway 5 were required to create wedding gowns for their final project as part of their collection. Leanne’s was by far the best with its unique design, stunning silhouette, and superb craftsmanship. This same sense of elegancy and design also won her the title of winner of Project Runway 5 last night.
Other dresses included Krotos’s African inspired gown which never hit the final runway in Bryant Park, Kenley’s Steve McQueen inspired feather wedding gown, and Jerell’s jewel encrusted dress that lost him the chance to show in the final.
