Follow Simon DaykinShe Says: I think this is a really fun way for the bridal party to get down the aisle and it obviously gave the guests quite a laugh. I wish that the bride had a more elaborate dance. I felt like the bridal party was all so great but that her dance was just so so. I wonder if they told the minister that they were going to do this. I wonder if their parents knew. It would have been awesome if her Dad danced her down the aisle. But I’m no great dancer (unless it’s line dancing) so I give kudos for all involved for rocking it out.
He Says: Yeah it was kinda cute. Not sure it was appropriate in the church, maybe better for the reception entrance. But if the bride and groom and minister type person was cool with it…then it’s all good. I love it when the couples personalities really come thru in the wedding. I do agree with Ciara that it would have been cool if the father of the bride danced her down the aisle, he could have had a dance off with the Groom before giving her away.
Unique And Useful Groomsman Gifts
A lot of my grooms come to me and ask me “What the hell do I get my Groomsmen?” They want stuff that is cool but that the guys can use after the wedding. Sure a hip flask is cool but can you use it every day? Well actually you can…but you shouldn’t. I have a groom who is outfitting his party in matching RayBan Wayfarer sunglasses. This will look super cool for the photos and really, who doesn’t love sunglasses? Check out www.rayban.com for all their styles…you can also hit Ebay to try to get better pricing. I also found www.getchucked.com on this site you can design your own Converse shoes…how cool is that!!! You can even add a personal touch by adding your wedding date or Groomsman’s name to the shoe. Everyone loves getting gifts, but try to make sure that your gift won’t sit in a drawer or the back of a closet after your wedding day.
When it comes to wedding-day transportation, the options are endless. So where do you begin? Well, the key to finding the right transportation is to make it as convenient as possible for everyone involved. Here are a few fun options to consider:
Horse & Carriage It doesn’t get much more romantic than a horse-drawn vehicle. Just make sure you won’t be traveling too far to your reception, as this is also one of the slowest options!
Car Not just any car, though. Get creative and choose one that fits your wedding venue. Sports cars, vintage autos or town cars may be options you’ll want to consider.
Limo The most classic of wedding rides may also be one of the most practical. If you want the whole wedding party involved, limos usually seat 8-10 people, and some have audio players, TVs, stocked bars and even mini refrigerators! You’ll really feel like a VIP!
Party Bus Take the limo and multiply it by 10 and you have a party bus! This is the perfect choice for large party crowds, and it can also be great after-party transportation!
Some things to consider: Before you start your transportation search, make sure there are no vehicle restrictions at your wedding ceremony or reception sites, and make a list of how many people you will be needing to transport. When you get a little closer to the big day, take a test drive on your own to plan the best route. The day of, make sure you have detailed directions, maps and contact numbers to give to your driver.
One of the most stressful parts of planning your wedding can be deciding who will stand up for you. By
the time most of us get married, we have made many great friends along the path of life… which is great… but it can make deciding on bridesmaids for your wedding very difficult. And I didn’t even mention family members yet!
Before starting your decision making process, you should have an idea of how many bridesmaids you want to have. This is just an idea- it doesn’t have to be set in stone. Experts say a good rule of thumb to use is 1 bridesmaid for every 50 guests you plan on inviting, but in reality you can have as many or as few as you want!
If you are having to choose between family or friends, in most cases it is probably wise to choose family. These are the people you are going to be tied to for the rest of your life, so it can help you avoid unnecessary conflict if you include them.
Also think about what you expect from your bridesmaids. If you want them to play a big role in preparing for the wedding (i.e. addressing invitations, making center pieces, etc.), then you should probably think twice before choosing family or friends who live far away or have extremely hectic schedules.
You do NOT need to ask someone to be in your wedding just because you were in theirs! Remember that each additional bridesmaid adds a little more to the total cost of the wedding, so make sure you are choosing them for the right reasons.
Keep in mind that there are plenty of other roles your friends can play in your wedding. Have them be your personal attendant, sing during the ceremony or hand out invitations.
Still stuck? Remember, there are no rules as to the number of bridesmaids you can have. I’ve seen plenty of weddings where the number of bridesmaids did not equal the number of groomsmen. If you are really having a tough time trying to decide whether or not to include someone, just include them. That way, after the wedding is over, you won’t regret not having included someone that you later on wished you had.
Last year while I was in Vancouver I discovered frocks. A fabulous dress shop specializing in the prettiest bridesmaid dresses! Always a tough sell, bridesmaid dresses are not known for their wearability once the wedding is over but frocks changes all that.
AND they just opened a new shop in Calgary!!!
Catherine Staveley and Deb Viccars carry a line of dresses your “bridesmaids will love & can wear again!” I absolutely love the modern colors and classic styles. Their real life wedding section shows how these dresses really come to life on real life bridesmaids. I think it’s important to note that these girls all have very different body types but the dresses look fab on each of them!

Frocks also has a coordinating line of dresses for your flower girls! Totally sweet!

Let me be the first to say, “Welcome to Calgary Frocks!! You’re VERY Welcome On the Wedding Scene!”
As brides are opting for unique weddings that highlight their personalities grooms are doing the same. Gone are the days of the polished black shoes for the groom and his groomsmen. You’ll see now that they are going for comfort. Converse shoes are becoming a big hit with wedding parties.
I was searching the web and found that there are some really cool pictures posted on flicker of groomsmen wearing converse shoes and other sneakers. You can even design your own pair of custom made chucks for the wedding day so all the groomsmen are matching and this could be a great gift idea as well! Just imagine the photos on your wedding day – what great memories!

Each pillow is custom made and you can choose color and adornments to match your wedding style. I think that these pillows make such a stylish statement! They also make for an amazing keepsake as you could place them on your newlywed bed as decorative pillows.
