Ciara and Simon Daykin are a husband and wife team who plan weddings together in their business FireflyOccasions.com. They live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada but their company has locations both in Canada and Los Angeles, California in the United States.
But the two are no ordinary couple.
Having met during their separate stints in the Canadian music industry scene (Ciara working at the Canadian Juno Awards and Simon working at an indie music distributor) the couple is heavily influenced by pop culture and frequently travel to discover new and exciting ideas for their bridal couples.
The dynamic between the two is not always harmonious. They frequently butt heads over their creative ideas and the logistics of pulling off their vision- which only makes their antics more interesting.
Their blog SheAndHePlanWeddings.com lets the public into their unique working environment- being a husband and wife team in the wedding planning industry balancing working on their business and their marriage. The blog covers both Ciara and Simon’s unique perspectives on various wedding situations. The two decided to create the blog in a he said/ she said format because they realized that in their wedding planning business they were able to go deeper into the wedding vision with a couple having both the bride and groom participate. Getting the groom to participate was much easier with Simon on hand. Bridal couples love the experience of authentically planning their wedding together facilitated by Ciara and Simon.
They are also joined by their other staff members who add to the dynamic of their company, Firefly Occasions.
